Yes. WhatToPack is free to download and use, and is supported by ads shown in the app.

No. You can use WhatToPack without creating a cloud account. There's an optional local profile (name and phone number) that personalizes the app, but it's stored entirely on your device.

You can view and check off existing packing lists offline. Creating a new trip, searching for a destination, and fetching the weather forecast all require an internet connection.

WhatToPack is currently available on Android via Google Play. There's no iOS version at this time.

WhatToPack looks at your destination's weather forecast, your travel dates, and the type of trip you're taking (e.g. business, beach, hiking) to suggest a categorized packing list.

Yes. The generated list is a starting point — you can add, remove, or check off items as you like.

WhatToPack uses a third-party weather service to fetch forecasts. Forecasts are generally reliable for the next several days but become less certain further out, so treat suggestions as guidance rather than a guarantee — especially for trips booked far in advance.

WhatToPack currently generates one checklist per trip on your device. You can duplicate or adapt the list manually for each traveler.

By default, you'll get a reminder the day before your trip and again on the day of travel, so you don't forget to finish packing.

You can disable reminders from within the app, or turn off notifications for WhatToPack entirely from your device's notification settings.

Your trips, packing lists, and local profile are stored on your device, not on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Clear WhatToPack's storage or uninstall the app from your device — since your data lives locally, this removes it completely.

Ads, served through Google AdMob, are what allow us to keep WhatToPack free with no required subscription. You can opt out of personalized ads from your device settings.
